PNG Test       

Wenn du wissen möchtest, ob dein Browser diese Webseite korrekt darstellt sieh auf das folgende Bild:

Wenn du Cleos ganzes Gesicht sehen kannst dann ist alles prima.

Wenn du nur die linke Hälfte sehen kannst dann ist alles schlecht. Denn das bedeutet, daß dein Browser das PNG Grafik Dateiformat nicht darstellen kann ( die linke Hälfte ist ein JPG, die rechte ein PNG ). Aber fast alles dieser Webseite ist gemacht mit PNGs. Ich schlage vor, du organisierst dir eine neuere Version deines Browsers. Alle "neueren" Version beherrschen nämlich PNG ( auch wenn niemand von dieser Tatsache weiß ) .

If you can see Cleopatra's full face everything is fine.

If you can see only the left half of her face then everything is bad. Because this means your browser is unable to display the PNG grafics-fileformat ( the left half is a JPG, the right half is a PNG ). But nearly all of this website is made with PNGs. I suggest you get a newer version of your browser. All "newer" versions support PNG ( even if nobody knows that fact ).

This is a GIF-free website. As you can see, I used for all parts of the website and the artwork the fileformat PNG ( Portable Network Grafics ). It is simply better than GIF ( more resolutions, better lossless compression ) and the most important reason: it's free!

"Huh? What means that?" you're asking. Problem with GIF is that there's a patent on it ( on parts of its compression-algorithm LZW ) . To make it short, it is theoretically possible that me and you and everybody out there in the wide net gets judicial problems by using "unlicensed" GIFs. The argument that nearly everybody uses GIFs ( "licensed" or "unlicensed" ones ) doesn't mean it gets legal for the "unlicensed" ones.

Quicktime Plugin       

Wenn du das Quicktime Plugin für den Netscape Communicator installiert hast, dann übernimmt diese Plugin in Darstellung von PNG-Bildern ( aber nur, wenn ausschließlich das Bild dargestellt wird, nicht wenn es Teil einer HTML-Seite ist ) . Und dann ändert es die Größe des Bildes, damit es auf den Bildschirm passt. Aber das ist schlecht, denn meine Artworks sind aus guten Gründen im PNG-Format und schauen fürchterlich aus, wenn man ihr Größe ändert.

Mein Rat: entferne die entsprechende Quicktime .dll verantwortlich für PNGs ( "npqtplugin3.dll" in the directory "programs/ netscape/ communicator/ program/ plugins/ " ).

Ich weiß nicht, ob dies auch für andere Browser zutrifft wie z.B. den MS Explorer.

Quicktime plugin       

If you have installed the Quicktime plugin into Netscape Communicator then this plugin does the displaying of PNG-images ( only if a single picture is displayed, not if it's part of a HTML-page ). And it resizes the pictures automatically to fit into the screen. But this really sucks, because my artworks are in PNG format for a reason and the look aweful if resized in any way.

My advice: remove the Quicktime .dll responsible for PNGs ( "npqtplugin3.dll" in the directory "programs/ netscape/ communicator/ program/ plugins/ " ).

I don't know whether it's the same with other browsers, e.x. MS Explorer.

HTML Philosophie       

Diese Webseite wurde geschrieben mit MS Notepad ( ich kann diese ganze Web Weditoren nicht leiden, weil sie viel zu viel Müll in den HTML Code schreiben ) . Sie wurde designed mit dem Netscape Communicator 4.6, aber da ich mich and ie offiziellen HTMl-Spezifikationen gehalten habe, sollte sie auch für andere Browser funktionieren ( kein Browser Krieg hier ). Aber wenn dein Browser kein PNG Grafik Dateiformat beherrscht, wirst du kaum was sehen.

HTML philosophy       

This website was manually written with MS Notepad ( I really can't stand all those web editors producing so much debris in your HTML-code ) . The site was designed with Netscape Communicator 4.6, but along the official HTML specifications, so it works with other browsers, too ( no browser-war here ). But unless your browser knows the PNG-grafics-fileformat you won't see anything.
